Is no one else disturbed by the blatant racism and xenaphobia that can be seen in the tabloid papers (and also Mail, Express)? I noticed this particularly during the World Cup, directed toward countries like France and Germany. Isn't it a national embarrasment that The Sun is our top selling newspaper?

I'm not sure that a bit of xenophobia is always racist. The truth is with countries like Germany and France we have long histories of fighting each other and these memories are part of our history. There's nothing wrong with a bit of rivalry and name calling every now and again - the world seems to be losing it's sense of humour in pursuit of political correctness.

Real racism, where individuals are abused in the street verbally or physically, are prevented from working or being treated equally and fairly is repugnant. The constant attacks on "illegal immigrants" in the gutter press makes me feel physically sick, these people are fleeing terrible conditions in the main and deserve our help and support.

But I think the Germans, Italians, French and Americans in particular are all big enough and strong enough to take a bit of ribbing on the chin, as it were.

The BBC are also guilty of strring up hatred between Scotland and England.

Ok so Scots weren't going to support England in the world cup but this is nothing new, its been like that forever! We're not English so why should we support England?

The BBC stir this by putting English flags in deprived housing estates in Glasgow etc then pay neds to trash them so they can film it.

The flip side of the coin is the Guardian, Mirror, BBC, who are more keen on white middle-class liberal thinking which discriminates against the white working classes in favour of ethnic minorities.

Yeah I agree.

They often use such terms and labells that we as ordinary people would be crucified for using. my particular hate is the way the label drug users as "junkies"
