I don't really have a favorite "brand". If it plays well, feels right and is suitable for my needs (sound, tone, etc.), that's what I get. I've played hundreds of guitars in my life and have never really had a reason to prefer one brand over another.

Ibanez still makes some decent guitars but they were alot better when they were Japanese made instead of Korean. Gibson and Fender still make some great guitars but The Gibson guitars have gotten outrageously expensive. I would still buy an American guitar if You can afford it. They tend to hold their value very well and are always in demand used. I play bass and have until recently always played an American Jazzbass but I have just bought a Musicman Bongo 5 string bass and it's the best bass I have ever owned. Old American B.C Rich guitars were some of the finest instruments ever made and the ones from the 80s are worth alot more now then when they were new. Epiphone guitars are quite nice these days. 15 years ago they were utter junk, but the Gibson company got their act in gear with the newer Epiphones they have been producing. I've also seen some decent guitars from Schecter.
