Does that matter really, since fluids (drank rapidly or slowly) are in any case going to come to rest in the stomach. Its in the intestines and colon where the actual fluid and salts absoption will take place - NB: fluids are NOT absorbed in the esophogus... as your question seems to imply..

Me being an alcoholic, I have to stay on top of being hydrated..It could take a week for the body to start properly accepting water in detox !

yes thi is true you must drink water quite slowly if you rush it you dont benefit a it doesnt absorb it and can give you a tummy ache.

Yep if you drink it too fast it will go straight thru and you won't get it's benefits etc
