You are right in asserting that some people, as a result of their upbringing, are made to feel bad about sex.
There have to be certain rules e.g. underage sex but certain religions and cults force unnecessary rules upon people which makes them feel they are doing something wrong.

I'm a born again christian and actually I felt bad about sex before I became a Christian, then after wards I understood that sex is actually God's idea and something He wants me to enjoy. The reason I wouldn't have sex outside marriage is because I know it can cause emotional pain, God doesn't force us to choose to live His way, it's something I choose out of my love for Him, and acknowledgment that He knows better that me what is good for me. Sex is a spiritual as well as a phyisical act (although the world would have you believe otherwise) and it should be enjoyed within marriage, every time you sleep with someone you form a bond with them, spiritually speaking, and all those bonds with different people do you damage. Get over the 'naughty' stuff, a loving father teaches his children to choose for the best for themselves and is always there when his children mess up, and that's how God is with us.

I agree with bonneymadick, its not about feeling bad during sex but how good/bad youre gonna feel when the guy has dumped you, sex is bonding and one you step over that mark you are emotionally involved. The guilt comes years down the line after you have knotched up a few on the bedpost and maybe still not married to any of them. Will you then be able to say that all that sex made you happy? Trust in God plan and you won't go far wrong.

Well it isn't only religion that can give people these views, sometimes it can be parents who smother their children, and in not wanting them to grow up they gives them a sex complex.
Also sexual abuse can make people view sex differently, also when people are growing up in schools you have your slags and studs, and the people who are picked on for being virgins.
I think that this is a more complex issue than religion.

I never feel bad about sex but then I'm not religious and was not brought up to think it was anything to be ashamed of or not to be enjoyed.
I think it's pretty much down to teaching from our parents/guardians (as with attitudes to most things in life)

I do not feel bad about sex, I came to turns with myself that it is okay to do it, irregardless of my religious background. Sex is often viewed as a bad thing, but none of us would be here if someone did not have sex. It is a natural part of life, not a shameful act.

You're doing a great job,you know that.Once again I agree with you.This view is only affected by religion.It is actually a basic need for all humans.But people fail to admit it because of religion.According to me religion shouldn't cover areeas of sex and all.It should be related to lifestyle and not our physical needs.
Good luck.

One time, I felt so bad obout sleeping with this guy (we are both christians & decided that it is wrong what we were doing {{and no bashing me! - it only means that I'm forgiven - not perfect, but perfectly forgiven}}
I started crying when I was on top and I had to get off and go to the bathroom and clean myself up (we talked about it) before we could carry on...

I have never felt bad during or after sex but then to possibly confirm your point I am not affiliated to any religion nor do I worry to much about other peoples sexual orientations or desires. As far as I am concerned it is a natural act which id great fun. More please!!!

I used to feel naughty and furtive about sex.Oddly enough,since I became a Christian I can honestly tell you that God invented sex,so theres nothing "wrong" with it,but he just gets miffed if we do it without marriage because of the emotional consequences that often take their toll on us without us even realising it.
