I have driven a car in flip flops - but best not to... they can get stuck under the accelerator pedal - I have known of someone writing off several cars when this has happened to them. If you haven't got another pair of shoes in the car then perhaps it's better to drive in bare feet - feels strange.... but saftest.

Yeah, I did it twice and I can tell you it's certainly not a good idea.
It's very dangerous... they can get stuck with the pedals, or fall to one side, difficulting your driving and reflexes.

If you even find yourself driving with flip flops, it's better to take them out and drive barefooted. It's safer.

If you have big feet then the bottom can fold in half and get stuck under the pedals, you never really feel safe doing it, i did it for a few minutes but ended up driving bare feet! which in itself is weird!

it is actually against the law. You should always have on tennies or slip on shoes but it all you have with you is flip flops then maybe you should consider taking them off and going barefoot, but keep in mind that is against the law also......You could also check with your local DMV office

Yeah and nearly crashed the car as it came off and got stuck under the brake pedal. It was a mad moment - will never do it again!

Yes but reading some of the stories here I may stop...I usually drive barefoot though I didn't think it was illegal, just 'frowned upon'!
