this is to generate same genetic code of plant cause when u use seed it is not sure it will grow and yield same as old one cause the plant from a seed carries genetic signature of both the parents. usually when u grow a plant from the seed for which u know the source u can notice either it becomes too tall or short and the yield also differ may be higher or lower than the mother plant.

Apples are reproduced this way because if you plant an apple seed, it almost never produces fruit as good as the fruit it came from. There are bunches of genes that go into the quality of the fruit that get shuffled during the sexual reproduction process.

In addition to keeping the fruit quality high, it also allows a producer to have highly consistent fruit, which makes it easier to market.

It is an exact copy (or clone) of the mother plant. A seed is not - it is like a child, having two parents.

Therefore, you can select exactly which plants you want to grow - tall ones, healthy ones, male/female etc. Something which you cannot predict as easily from seeds.
