I thought you say paint....
Sorry. no knowledge about make-up, but just a good guessing, primer should do the same function in make-up and paint. Right? To cover any unnecessary hole before applying make-up/paint.

Makeup primer creates a film between the natural oils of the skin and the emollients included in the foundation formula. This "seal" keeps your foundation on longer.

Yes, it suppose to make your make up go on smoother as well as give it more lasting power. I have tried a couple kinds and really haven't seen that much difference. But I am only 29. Maybe when I am older and have dry spots and wrinkles it will help. I do still use Smashbox's Photo Finish, but that is because of the SPF.

Primers prepare the face for makeup application by filling in fine lines, pores and imperfections, creating a smoother surface for your makeup to be applied

It does same job whether paint or makeup. It prepares the surface so it is free from debris and ready for the main product application.

a primer is usually a yellow based colour that, when applied to your skin, evens and smoothes your skin before applying make up. it can also leave your skin looking blemish-free and no red marks or rashes. because of this, you dont have to wear make up. (unless you choose to do otherwise)
hope that helped!

trust me, u dont need a primer if u apply moisturiser before u apply your foundation.
and if u want ur foundation to blend evenly onto ur skin, then first apply dots of foundation all over the face, n then take a wet sponge and blend your foundation all over your face, this method is better than using your fingers to blend it over your face.
