There are many levels of embarrassment. In theory, you should only get embarrassed in front of other people because what you are fearing is those people seeing you in an awkward situation or talking about you.
But people still get embarrassed when they are alone so why?
Well, our embarrassment levels are formed in childhood, initially by our parents and subsequently by siblings and our peers.

If we were allowed to be free to do anything we would never get embarrassed but unfortunately other people's embarrassments get passed to us. This means that even when you are alone as a child you remember what you've been told and get embarrassed when you "hear" what happened last time you performed a certain action.

Because we hate feeling foolish. No one wants to feel like an idiot. Sometimes you get the feeling people are ready to pounce the minute you make a mistake...until I discovered that it only makes us more human. We all make mistakes...it's what we learn from them that makes the difference. Don't be afraid to try new things from fear of embarrassment. You will only be cheating yourself of new experiences...and you can't learn without trial and error. It could be that your anxiety level goes through the roof in unfamiliar surroundings or circumstances...and there is help for it. Just do a Yahoo/Google search for anxiety and it will help you to calm your fears. We've all "been there".

I can't help when I get embarrassed. Most times when people don't think that it is that serious. I guess I get embarrassed about the little things. It is the times when it is so simple that I get the most embarrassed. When I am embarrassed, I can't even lift my head up!

Being embarrassed from time to time is human nature. If it prevents you from social activities you may want to talk to a doctor about it. Some people have what is called Social Anxiety Disorder. I was that way too. I talked to the Doctor about it and he gave me Zoloft. It works well for me.

we get emabarassed because things are put to us, these may be things that we dontt understand or things we dont like to talk about. some people will go to extreme lenghts not to get embarassed so will never go into a situation where embarassement could be caused, even if the situation means success. me i dont care about embarassment i am not going to ruin my life, the mopre you ghet embarassed the stronger you will be and you will have less chance of being embarassed in the future.

Fear of social stigma. You're scared that society or certain memebers of it will reject you because of your trait that you are embarassed of, or the action that you are embarassed of doing. If you dont care about at least another person in the world other than yourself, you most probably have no shame.

We get embarrased because we are rational beings. Unlike the animals we have an invisible rule that governs us in all our living. We call it morality. cheers!!!!
