I've bought it as an small tree, (not as an seed) so my only advice is to make it easier for your self, go and buy an small banana palm, it will safe you a helluva lot of time and patience

Tips: warm and damp situation, no direct sunlight, plenty of water during growth and a large amount of soil...

Take a piece of 8" - 10" Banana plant shoot and put it in a pit of 2" dia. You will be able to see the plant in foliate in about 30 days.

if u r talking bout without seed than a stem can be used to grow a bannana cause there are no seeds in a banana plant as i know however an attempt to grow a plant even without a stem can be to burry a full ripe banana in wet soil and wait to see if a plant comes out of it.
