I took one a while back. They basically focus on training your eye to see many words at the same time, so when you read, by the end, your eye should be looking at the middle of the page and you can pick up the entire line. It goes a lot faster that way. I could never get the hang of it, though.
It cut down too much on my ability to enjoy the material and absorb much of it. Others did just fine, but it just wasn't for me.
