single/married/living with spouse/divorced etc etc. If I answer divorced (as I am) I gotta provide a mountain of evidence. If I say I'm single (which I am) i don't have to provide any evidence. Would I get away with ticking single?

I would not lie, but, if you have been divorced for a long time and not paying your ex - in any way (allomony, child care, etc.... u no what i mean) then you could get away will saying "single", if, however you are paying your ex in any way the put yourself down as divorced because to give you the correct amount of money you are allowed, for your education the finance people need to no where ur money is going. Hope it goes ok!

Officially you aren't single. You are divorced, and you should then tick the box that you are divorced and provide them with the evidence... to do other wise would to be to lie. The changes of them finding out/ investigating it are pretty slim, depends if it's worth taking the risk for the sake of digging out a few papers.

Tick single, the paperwork is just noth worth it.

If the divorce is final, just stick a note in saying that. if they want more they'll get back to you.

* Remember this day, cause in 5 years when they are chasing you for payments you can look back and remember how well off you actually were before you became a student.

Sorry, you have to tick divorced if you are. Otherwise it could be classed as fraud, and you will be in a heap of trouble.

They are just trying to see if you are supporting anybody else. If you are making alimony payments/child care, this means you could be entitled to more money from the student loans company.

As someone said, all they need is a copy of the divorce notification, and that's it.

I know it's tedious to fill in, but if you don't, then you don't get any money. It's that simple.

In theory you can tick either therefore just tick the Single box.

If this becomes a question or problem then just explain that you had a lot on your mind and you made a mistake.

Besides you are single so why should it matter which you tick.

:-)

I think you should go for the divorced one... if any complications arise from the single one, you might have to fill out more forms with indications of evidence and it's best to avoid that and maybe any legal issues too...

Don't lie on forms it's not worth it. The only proof you will need to provide is your divorce certificate.

Tick single. It'll be fine. It's really none of their business, I wouldn't have thought.
