I think I need to explain this question better. I am asking in respect to Americans on here, not Americans in general of whom I can not comment. Also, I can tell that they are American by the fact that ther are usually boasting about America whilst deriding somebody elses nationality etc. I am convinced that the USA is populated mostly by good people, as the whole planet is. So why do you think the rudeness exists on here?

Because their are too many fool's that come on here without reading the rules-and like in the case of the Nat.West three you too are subject to American law on this site and can be extradited for your ignorance due to Blunket's Idiotic 2003 agreement in a knee jerk reaction to 9-11,and they take 40+ of us to stand trial over there and we can't do jack about it-read the rules and guidelines-this is still incitement and they know where you live pal believe me!!!!!A friend.ktfx

Why do you assume it is Americans? This is the world wide web, could be any English speaking person you're talking to. Americans are rude because you like to think they are. A lot of people on the WWW are rude because you don't know who they are so they don't care what anybody thinks of them.

I am an American, and I do not care for anyone being rude. Including those who claim all Americans are. Will it help you any if I apologize for that group of select rude losers- Then here it sets;"I'm sorry some of my countrymen are idiots to you" If this isn't worth anything to you, then perhaps you are a non american equivalent to these we dislike. There are plenty of polite Americans. You just don't notice them as much. Whenever I travel abroad, I am always at some point disappointed in the behavior of some of my fellow countrymen. It's probably no different here online.

the truth is most Americans are brash. As Britons most of us are very reserved. We tend to perceive Americans as being loud mouthed arrogant and rude. they may seem a little hostile but actually they're just intimidated

don't know. but on my questions, there's always a few that are boasting about being white and criticizing me for living in the ghetto, even though i'm from the uk, middle class, and of Indian ethnic descent rather than being black. So, I guess the answer is, because they're ignorant.

have you ever noticed that when people can get away with something unseen, they will. There is an unbelievable amount of rudeness, poor grammar and stupidity on Yahoo Answers.

Because half the time they don't get the irony in the questions so feel like they have to attack the asker. Ignorant is what they are.
