The only way to know for sure is to ask her. Try to go about asking her if she is bi or a lesbian in a natural way, work it into a talk so it doesn't shock her. Maybe talk about equal rights into marriage rights into being GLBQ (gay, lesbian, bisexual, questioning.)
Here is a link that might help too.
How should I approach (and support) a youth who I think may be gay? http://www.pflag.org/Frequently_Asked_Questions.comingout_faq.0.html#16

i was in the closet for awhile and during that time, i liked this really good friend of mine. when i started going out with my gf, i told her and some other friends that i was gay. most of them were really supportive but the friend i had liked was really hesitant because i guess she realized i had liked her too.
i'd ask her. i know you must think that's rude but it really isn't. just don't come and accuse her of acting gay or liking you. be supportive, even if it turns out she does like you. some of the things i would do when i liked my friend, would be trying to get closer to her, as in i'd go where she was, i'd always listen to her problems, you know...just a really good friend but that's just me. everyone has their own way. i hope this helps :D

i do not understand what sort of advice your wanting. there is no longer something you may do to help someone it extremely is sexually perplexed. She's shy about it round you and appears like ashamed besides. possibly she has a crush on you, i have seen that ensue in the previous. you purely want to be her chum, if she needs to say something about it then allow her and in the different case allow it bypass she will sort it out in her personal thoughts.

do you know that she does like girls? if you are really good friends already, you should be able to ask her. and are you interested in her or are you worried that she's interested in you (you didn't really say if you were lesbian or not)
