Israel is defending itself.
The state of Israel was legally created out of the dismemberment of the Ottoman Empire at the end of World War I. The area was desolate, desert and swamp, with some small towns and a few inhabitants, many of them nomads. The inhabitants considered themselves mostly Syrian. The Balfour Declaration issued by the British, who were given the mandate over the area by the League of Nations. Jews have lived in the country since Biblical times. The Arabs from the surrounding areas were lured to "Palestine" by the industry and prosperity that the Jews brought to the region. Envy, hatred and religious fanaticism turned the Arabs against the Jews. In 1947, under pressure, the British resigned their mandate. The same year, the United Nations mandated partioning of the territory. The Jews, though disappointed, accepted the partition. The Arabs rejected it and launched war against Israel. The armies of five Arab countries invaded. Following the exhortations of the invaders, the Arab residents got out of the way hoping to return after victory was attained. They could then reclaim their property and that of the Jews, all of whom would have been killed or would have fled. Israel won. That and that alone is the source of the Palastinian "refugees". Had the Arabs accepted the UN partition plan, there would now have been a state of "Palestine" for the last 58 years. The might have attained a similar level of prosperity, advancement and development as Israel. 50% of Israel's population now includes refugees from Morocco, Algeria, Iraq and Yemen. All were accepted by Israel with open arms and have become successful members of their society. The Palestinians refused to integrate these refugees into their population and instead confined them to "refugee camps". The ones there are now fourth generation and through no fault of Israel.
Hey, here's an idea, why don't the Arabs get these 4th generation refugees and incorporate them into their society? 4th GENERATION?!? That would never happen in a developed nation, including Israel. It shows how incompetant the Palestinians are.

Unfortunately, the U.S. will not stop supporting Israel, even it means its destruction in the process. Isn't this what we have been seeing since 9/11 (actually long before then too).
As for whether the Zionists (I will not use Jews here) can survive with / without the US, again, unfortunately I believe they might (though against my wish) simply because they plan ahead and eventually all things come to an end - If the US is now a superpower, they won't be forever, it's a curve - US at the top of the peak now, but not for long and the Israeli / Zionists are helping the US to reach the bottom peak so fast.
I take something in between - Will Zionism survive -everything comes to an end eventually - its' nature.

America loses if America stops supporting Israel. Even if the US abandons Israel (not gonna happen soon), God will still be with Israel so it will continue to survive and will continue to refuse to take all the guff from the Arab states that they want to pull.
On that front, the Islamic terrorist organizations (Hezbollah, etc.) that started this latest fracas are now in a world of hurt. You don't want to be the one Israel is after, cause you're gonna suffer serious hurt (and rightly so).
Nobody should have their homeland terrorized and have innocent women and children killed in cowardly terrorist suicide bomber attacks the way Israel has suffered for many years.
Now Hezbollah's gonna get theirs! And they're gonna get it good!

That is an excellent question. Kudos to you. There is a lot of big time Jewish money in the United States which means influence and power. They would never let that happen. Israel is an interesting country. They have many irons in the fire worldwide.

You dirty little b*tch...
Israel did quite well against 5 Arab countries in 48' without any American help.
Israel hasn't lost a war against the arabs yet and is not going to lose one. It is one of the biggest nuclear powers in the world. It can wipe any country it wishes off the face of the earth.

Hell no. A bigger bunch of losers never existed. The pride of their race is that 5, uh... 6, or is it 7, now, 7 million of them stood by and let themselves be loaded on cattle cars to be executed.
Without the US to back their sorry asses, the Arabs will have them for lunch. And quite frankly , I'm tired of US tax money going to support them . They are racial and religious bigots.

Why would God stand with Israel? According to the bible, the Jews killed him.
I wish America would stop defending them and let them stand on their own!!
