cable is far better, first of all it would be broadband connection which means it would be very fast, you can download big files very fast.
dial is narrow band and would be slow compared to cable connection. cable connections would be 10x dialup connection (depending on speed you take).
some links here would explain you the diff. in detail.

Cable is way better of course, a little more money but way, way faster. Don't listen to the commercials DSL is not even close to cable. I have cable and I could never switch to dial up. No way.

No question, cable is FAR better. Dial-up is super slow and a pain in the butt! If you have the choice, DEFINATELY go with cable!

It is like asking which is better Hershey's or Godiva. Of course its Godiva as Hersheys is no where near as good. For computer, dial up is the old method, it is very slow and it will take so much time for downloads etc. Cable is faster and way better.

It all really depends on what you really want! Do you want speed or do you want to pay a little less? Dial-up is a little slower but it will still get you were you want to go and cable is faster but you will have to pay a little more. So really it is all about your personality if you think about it! Are you a "speed" freak or are you a "frugal tight wad?" Sadly I am the latter!

Generally speaking, the cable speed can reach up to 10Mbps or higher which at the same time, the speed of dialing up may only be up to 115.2Kbps at most.

And then you can see which is faster obviously.

PS:1Mbps=1024Kbps.
