There are many good things that flies do. We, as humans seem to want to exterminate any creature that causes us the least bit of discomfort.
Flies and their larva , aid in the reduction of dead animals back into the environment.
Many species of flies are important pollinators.
Flies keep us from sleeping too long an a lazy summer afternoon.

It is an interesting fact that flies carry numerous kinds of bacteria on them, however they never get sick.

Scientists have actually found a kind of chemical in the gut of flies which is responsible for bacteria-killing.

This could well be one great discovery, since more and more bacteria nowadays have developed drug resistance to many chemicals that we used to try to kill them with.

Well if you did not know the common fruitly is a model organism for genetics, through it we now know many things like how the biological clock in our body works, the genes that affect body size and make the body change in shape, heat shock proteins that protect the cells from heat or cold etc.
but i have to say that they are disgusting little creatures and thank god i have to wear gloves to handle them

no cant think of any thing good except i have a kitten and hes really play full . hes catching the flies so at least hes leaving my toes alone !that must be a good thing ?

the good thing is that flies lay eggs on dead and rotting organic matter, mostly dead organisms. maggots hatch out of these eggs. these maggots are verocious eaters. they eat and grow very quickly. a pair of flies can lay thousands of eggs. hence these maggots help in decomposition of dead beings quickly, they are far faster than bacteria and fungi. these are nature's dead organism disposers.

they clean up biological waste prodcuts, just as some other insects and fungus.

I'm still trying to find out the use for mosquitoes though

They can fly, they help decomposition and stuff i think. They are in the food chain which means something eats them. Light meal, quick fix? eat a fly"!!

Yes, they're very small. And without them we'd be up to our knees on streets full of decomposed litter.
