I'm looking out my window at Lake Ontario now; I was practically born swimming in it.

Very interesting lake, very strange...innocent-looking but dangerous. And sort of...haunted.

If "The Black Pearl" bobbed up from the depths in the middle of night, and docked in Olcott Harbor...it wouldn't surprise me.

If the lake seems clean ,why not? No i have not tried swimming in a lake yet, coz there is no lake which can be swam in Singapore.

Sure. I grew up in SW Michigan. Swam in Lake Michigan lots of times. On a trip to Canada one September, I thought about trying to swim in Lake Superior. Stuck my toe in and pulled it right out again. Way too cold for swimming.

I have swam in two. I lived in Erie for a summer, and we went to the beach a few times.

And, of course, I've lived here in Milwaukee, so I spent a lot of time swimming when I was younger. Of course the Zebra Mussel inspired algee makes the lake unswimmable right now.

Oh yes, lots!! I live in Southern Spain, and there are loads of great lakes here!

I used to swim in one close to Malaga, but now I have moved to Granada, and there are even more here, they are lovely, and much more healthy and natural than a swimming pool.

I like the sea too, but I'm about 2.5 hours drive away from it - so the lakes are next best option. Take a look in the photo gallery if you like.

You don't quite get the scale, huh? There are over ten THOUSAND miles worth of shoreline on the Great Lakes. There are enormous numbers of beaches and parks and boating and swimming areas; I'm sure you can find just about anything you want - and probably any negative situation as well - at one point or another.
