I'm not sure if there's a flute in that song or not. I like the song, but you should read about it on Wikipedia. It has backwards messages about Satan.

There is a flute playing in the song, but not conventionally...
The flutes that you hear are sampled on tapes and played back via an early hardware keyboard sampler called the Mellotron. It is believed that John Paul Jones played a Mellotron M400 model on this particular song. Live, he would use this keyboard as well as, briefly, a prototype for a Mellotron Mk. V that was quickly retired as it was less stable than the already breakage-prone M400's. Legend has it that Jones brought three M400's with him on tour in case one broke.

Yes, it's probably the best rock song ever written. After a short solo guitar intro, I think an alto recorder is added, which can sound similar to a flute.
