For me, it's film composer John Williams. Unforgettable melodies, music that perfectly paints a picture of the characters, situation, and mood. Without him, I never would have developed the passion for music that led me to become a music educator.

Rossini

The liberal use of his glorious compositions in the Bugs Bunny cartoons (The Rabbit of Seville, et al.) led me to a great appreciation of classical music which I would not likely have found elsewhere until much later in life.

Johann Sebastian Bach has influenced me not only in my playing the piano, and other instruments nor in my choices of other composers in the likes of Debussy and Chopin, but learning the basics of piano playing as a child, one starts with the classics and Bach's First Lessons and actually you haven't mastered yet your rudiments nor your skills and here you are asked and taught by your teacher to play Bach, and as you go along mastering a little, you finished the First Lessons now you're given Short Preludes and Fugue of Bach, where you sweat a lot as to why does he overlaps his melodies? But after studying them in separate hands, and analyzing where the melodic theme goes from your right hand to your left hand, and then you get amazed as sometimes both hands play the melodic theme at the same time, what a surprise? Bach is like life itself, as you struggle with its problems you can't take it all in, but try taking it slow and surely you'll learn your way, do analyze your decisions and behaviors and soon you'll see you're accomplishing things in your life. That's how I dealt with life, as how I've learned to study and learn Bach's music slowly, in detail with analysis and practice, I also took life in detail and analzed difficulties and decisions that didn't benefit me nor the people around me, accepted struggles and when having been able to overcome it makes you better in dealing with the next concern that comes your way, and as you accomplish one after another just like mastering each prelude and fugue to Bach's 2 & 3 Parts Inventions , you get the hang of it and you are now the good Bach player as you are the better person you should be.

That's a tough one. I admire classical composers and modern composers. I guess it would have to be Beethoven though. Just for the ability to carry his theme throughout a song with subtle continuity and considering that he was going deaf and went to extraordinary measures for his passion, it's inspiring.
