Body language, position of the eyes, facial expressions, hand postions, angle of head... in a dogs case how it holds its tail are all indicative of what's on its mind. Do a google on above phrases to find the sites.

The best you can do is to read body language. But reading minds is sort of a myth.

Look into practicing intuition and psychic abilities. It's like anything else -- you have to learn how and then practice, practice, practice! But trust me, it can be done.
