I feel that the statement there-in lying is most certainly valid in this day and age. A question is a statement in the fact that it is a written or spoken thing, but it is interrogative. A question must bring about wonder as to the possible replies, also known as answers. A question is a statement as it must be stated, in written, verbal, or psychokinetic way, but not a statement in the essence of sentence type or structure.

a question is asking for an answer. A statement is just a sentence that states a fact/feeling or emotion. It does not require a response.
