I think that they have chosen the lifestyle they want to lead and should be respected as human beings just like the rest of us. However, it is not a lifestyle I would want to have nor do I admire some of their traditions and behaviors. Also, I don't know that much about hillbillies from Kentucky so I shouldn't pass judgement. My stereotype of them is that they are relatively uneducated and uncultured. Personally, I cannot stand to live without constantly learning and being surrounded by culture (art, music, language, etc.) so I don't think I could live like that. Also, they do a lot of things that I think are crazy but I just need to realize that it is all because of different cultural norms that I do not share because I am not from Kentucky (or wherever)...

I see nothing wrong with people from Kentucky. My sister and I were born in Kentucky, and my mom is from Kentucky too. None of us are backwards.

I think they are cool people who are just misunderstood... but I'm from Tennessee so I see my share of 'people of the land' (red necks) every day. People tend to associate uneducated simple minded folks with the South, but I'm here to tell you, red necks are EVERYWHERE (except maybe California).

People are people. You like some, you don't like others. I never really thought about where they were from.
