I've lived with my good friend (early 20's) for about 2 weeks and I don't have to pay rent. He doesn't do much physical activity but we go out to eat and the mall and stuff daily. He works at home and when I get up he's still in his pajamas working. When I ask him if he's showered he tells me he already has. I never heard the water run and the shower isn't wet. I haven't seen a tooth brush, towel, or any soap etc and we share the same room. and bed... :-\
We worked out today and he told me he was going to shower and I felt relieved...but he had a long talk with his girlfriend when we came in and just fell asleep on the bed beside me. What do I do!!!??

He's one of my best friends, but he's difficult to confront.

If you're not paying rent, the only saying that comes to mind is that those who beg cannot be too choosy, ha ha. The REAL issue is how long do you plan on staying there? If a few weeks, let it go. If you're going to be there for six months AND plan on contributing to the household expenses, then by all means, say something.

you also share the same bed
if so, tell him you think you need to get your own bed and figure out where to put it
before going out tell him to shower first because you will be needubg extra bathroom time today and he can dress while you're in there
do you have a problem saying "holy cow, when was the last time you showered?" or "brother you need to shower it reeks in here"

Pick your battles and decide what consequences you want. You know the roomate better than anyone here. If you told him to wash his nasty a**, would he get upset? If so then would he kick you out? Look for anyother place to live.

Share beds? Wouldn't you rather sleep on the floor? Well I think you should just sleep on the floor wheter he stinks or not. Or confront him?

Tell him you'll start paying rent if he'll start taking a shower.

It's not your business really. If you don't like the way he chooses to live his life, just move out. Have you tried to communicate your concern with him?

hygiene probs... find a good timing & tell him in a very polite way that keeping oneself clean & in good shape is best especially so that he has a gf. don't wait for others to talk to him, do ur best to convince him before his gf gets turned off... good luck
