Ummm... actually, you're wrong on the blood relations. Who do you think colonized the Spanish speaking countries of today? The Spanish language is derived from Latin and so many people who are Spanish speakers identify more with their language roots than with the actual heritage behind it... I prefer to be called Hispanic, though. But many people don't like that term because they feel it focuses more on the colonization and enslavement of indigenous peoples of their countries... I think the term "Latino" became popular in Hollywood and Miami during the Ricky Martin craze and I don't really care for it... By the way it really has nothing to do with deceased Roman emperors... And if you read the current study of royal blood lines, you'd know that everyone, no matter the background or place, is a decendant of royal blood, especially European; royalty and nobility had a notoriety for taking in many lovers and fathered children all over the world in their travels... Wether you are of a religious background or are of scientific faith, either way, we are all decendants of a very small group of people who populated by screwing all kinds of people. That's why we are all different; nature's way of keepin' it real... Oh, yes... there is no longer such a thing as a real "Latin" person. The language is officially dead and only spoken inthe Vatican or for leisure...

In the mid-1800s, France invaded Mexico. To legitimize this, they tried to forge a cultural link between themselves and this country. Mexico was (and is) essentially a combination of Spaniards and Indians (with some Africans). The primary language is Spanish. Spanish and French are both Romance languages that arose from Latin. Ergo, the French created the name "Latin America" in order to establish a historical tie between themselves and the Spanish and Portuguese nations of the Western Hemisphere.
France later lost control of Mexico, but the name they gave to the region once known as Spanish America lives on to this day. Those who reside in the region are called Latin Americans, and hence, "Latinos."
Whether many of them accept this name or not is debatable, though...

I come from the only country in asia that spain colonized. I am of mixed blood of spanish descent. in this part of the world, we don't call ourselves latinos. we are called "mestizos" which means half of one and half of another etc.. I guess in Central and South America, it's the same thing. They call themselves "Latinos" as descendants of the three languages based on latin. French, Spanish and Italian.

Why are you WhiteEuropeans called Americans? Why everybody else gets to be called Asian American, African American etc. You are not the ONLY Americans and certainly not the REAL ones, because you ppl originate from EUROPE. Just because the country is called United States of America doesn't mean that you're entitled to be called American's Canadians, Mexicans, Brazilians are Americans too so don't act like you are the only Americans. So remember you ppl are European Americans.

Thats because they are ignorant as to what their true Roots or history is all about. The HISPANIC population here in America don't even really know that they have ARAB blood in them.
Hence just look at the similarities in looks like the ears that have the large lobes that connect to the neck/face, or the thick dark hair, etc.
The ARABS ruled SPAIN for 500 years! So really they are HISPANICS and HISPANICS are ARABS/Middle Easterns!
