I think he's doing a decent job, though I'm not from Colorado, I am from an adjoining state and hear a great deal about him.

Congressman Tom Tancredo was born and raised in Colorado. The grandson of an Italian immigrant grandfather, Tom Tancredo worked his way through college to become a school teacher, a legislator, a leader in President Reagan's renewal of America, a principled conservative thinker and Republican leader.
Representative Tancredo was first elected to Congress in 1998. Tom is now running for his fourth term in the U.S. House of Representatives. Tom serves on the International Relations Committee, the Resources Committee and the all-important Budget Committee. In addition, Congressman Tancredo formed and is Chairman of the 72 member Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus.
One of Tom's major accomplishments, in the wake of the Columbine tragedy, was the establishment of a school safety hotline for the students and parents of Colorado. The hotline (1-877-542-SAFE) is currently up and running for the entire state. He also introduced the School Safety Hotline Act, which passed the House and allows other states to establish similar types of hotlines utilizing federal funds.
While Congressman Tancredo has become a noted national leader in the effort to reform our immigration policies and secure our borders, he has never forgotten his roots in Colorado. Tom communicates regularly with his constituents in a variety ways. He holds regular town hall meetings on many subjects, including national security, health care issues, small business, veterans and education issues. He also communicates with his constituents via the US Post Office and with a regularly published electronic news letter. Tom has developed very close relationships with local elected officials so as to be able to provide help and support as they need it in their dealings with the federal government.
Tom is committed to provide the constituents of the Sixth Congressional District with the opportunity to meet and question officials of both the government and the private sector. Tom is doing everything he can to make Colorado's seniors and veterans more aware of the resources available to them.
The Congressman has also hosted Financial Aid Seminars to provide college bound students and their parents with information on financial aid, grants and scholarships that may be available to them. For high school students, Tom continued the tradition of Congressman Dan Schaffer by holding the Artistic Discovery Competition, spotlighting the work of talented art students throughout the Sixth Congressional District.
Prior to being elected to Congress, Tom was a public schoolteacher in north Denver. In 1976, he was elected to the Colorado State House of Representatives where he served until President Ronald Reagan appointed him as the Secretary of Education's Regional Representative in 1981. After serving both Presidents Reagan and Bush, Tom was named the President of the Independence Institute, a conservative public policy research organization in Golden, Colorado, where he served from 1993 to 1998.
In Congress Congressman Tancredo had earned a reputation for being a hard working, independent thinking advocate for lower taxes, less government and for the needs of his district. Tom is never afraid to speak his mind, giving meaning to his early motto of "I'm not going to Washington just to take up space. I'm going to make a difference." Since he has been in Congress Tom has cast 3,058 of the 3,115 recorded votes (as of June 3, 2004) for a lifetime percentage of 98.1%, one of the best records in the House.
Tom has been married to his wife, Jackie, since 1977. They have raised two children, Ray and Randy, and three grandchildren, Thomas, William and Gabriel.
