But what would have happened if, midway through the war, with us fighting a real, known threat to our very country, our president decided to pull back most of our troups and instead send them to invade Canada because Canada might have had a few sympathizers or might have had a few illegal gallons of Canadian whisky?

Actually, the moment we declaired war against Japan the Germans declaired war against us. So we were fighting both at the same time. FDR favored neither front.

Arguably that's pretty much what FDR did. There were plenty of people at the time who felt the US should crush Japan first, and then move on to Hitler. Point taken about Germany declaring war on the US, but FDR's decision to participate in the African campaign was criticized at the time.

Thats pretty much what hapenned but people are so brainwashed that they have now come up with imaginary reasons for why this was a sensible step in the war on terrorism. While they ignore things like facts and evidence, unfortunately since these people are wrong, our whole nation may suffer at the hands of our enemies
