In other words, I can go on vacation when I want, come back to it, or do something else? We really need money for college, etc.

You can get together with your friends and form a team to do lawn work, mowing, raking, etc. You can take turns taking time off and the others cover for you.
You can also make some big money delivering pizzas! You just have to dedicate yourself to your job. Don't get distracted by your friends, i.e., no side trips to meet up with your buddies! ( I did that in high school, delivered pizzas, made side trips to meet up with my friends, and lost my job! )

If you need money for college, you should probably concentrate more on working than on vacation.
I used to spend my summers mowing grass. It doesn't occupy every day, you can set your lawns up for certain days, you can also wash cars, help clean garages, tend yard sales, walk dogs. The possibilities are endless. Someone always needs help with something.

Concierge and errands. Work for yourself $15.00 hourly. Pick and Choose your jobs, and make your own schedule. Free advertising on craigslist and backpage.com you got it made.

Sales clerk (part time)...especially like music stores cos its pretty relaxed, can't think of much else.
