Depending on where you live, you might be able to find a book on hiking locations within 60 miles of your city. For example, I have 60 Hikes Within 60 miles: San Antonio & Austin. The book gives the directions to the site, as well as other pertinent information (e.g. water availability, parking...).
Have you tried golf? My husband and I bond over it. In your field, it wouldn't hurt to try the game. You can rent clubs at many course pro shops and attend inexpensive clinics. Good luck!

well your brain may need some down time after all that study and work so i thought that something interesting but basic might be the go. How about hiking or photography. you could study the wildlife in your area take photos of it and get exercise at the same time. Also drawing and painting that's what my brother does his pictures are pretty lifelike whatever they have been drawn of.

If it was possible with current gas prices I would go site-seeing just outside the city.
