If you can, go to Galveston. Wonderful beaches there and great Chinese food EVERYWHERE. Plenty places to eat good food, so don't worry. I've been there several times and it's been really fun.

I'll be truthful with you. Houston is a business, oil city. There is not much to do for leisure time. I'd head to the Galleria. Cafe Lily as mentioned in the aforementioned post is excellent. They are minutes from the Galleria and have excellent, affordable food.

Houston's is also a good restaurant, or so I've heard. Miller's Cafe is top notch for hamburgers. Visit LakeWood Church as well. Its the most famous church in the world.

The Holocaust Museum is free, I like going to Hermann Memorial Park and The Museum of Fine Arts. You have to get some Shipley's Donuts (mmm yumm). The Lasagna House is good Italian. Go to Bellaire if you want good Chinese. You could go shopping in the Galleria.

I would recommend the Natural History Museum, go see Bodyworks III and the Dinosaurs. Depends on what you like to eat. Lily's is a Lebanese Restaurant on Westherimer down from the Galleria, which can be fun also.

For good food, try Pappadeaux's. They have great Cajun cooking. Their sister company is Pappasito's which has great Tex-Mex food. You'll be pleased with both restaurants.
