Not until it's fully healed. That means putting a glop on it at least twice a day at least, to help speed the healing process - you can get proper "Tattoo glop", but I make my own for my husband. You have to wait until the primary scabs have formed, and fallen off naturally. Do NOT pick them! And then wait until the bruising has gone down.
If you do sunbathe, make sure you put a total sunblock on your tattoo. This will make the colours stay true.

There's no definite time, as it depends on the individual's healing rates. For swimming, at the very least you have to wait until ALL the scabs have fallen off. That'd be just too gross to get in the swimming pool afterwards! Sunbathing should be later, when the tattoo is completely healed, as the skin will be traumatised enough without you adding sun damage to it before it's truely healed.

Have fun with your tattoo!

You should wait about 2-4 weeks or when your tattoo has completely healed before you go into the water. Nothing will really protect your tattoo as you're swimming. If you can wait until you're major competions are over and get it when you have some time in between team meetings.

The tattoo artist should have told that or given you a paper with what you can do and can't do. Give them a call and find out. Hopefully you went to one that has a license to give tattoos. Right now there is a really nasty flesh virus floating around. And the people who have it didn't get a tattoo from a licensed professional tattoo artist.
Always use sunblock of 30 or more to protect the colors once the tattoo has completely healed. And that can take anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks. Depending on how your body heals and how you take care of it.

It will depend on how quick it heals i have a black dragon up my spine and it took bout a week and a half to scab then you should leave it to come off itself or the colour will fade. I picked some of mine and although its still black i want it re coloured. Besides sun bathing will draw out the colour - thats what my tatooist told me if ur sun bathing just cover it up. Its not worht the pain to wreck it. so make sure its scab free in its own time then swim away!!

Wait until ALL the scabs fall off, don''t be tempted to pick them off. Totally sunblock the tattoo when your in the sun cos the colour will fade otherwise.

I just had one myself and was told to wait at least two weeks before swimming or sunbathing or until it was completely healed.

Once it is fully healed. Give it about 2 weeks and you should be good to go. Make sure to put sunblock on the tattoo, because the sun can seriously fade any bright colors on your tattoo.

wait a couple of weeks for it to heal. even when healed, tattoos fade in the sun a lot, i have one on my right arm that has faded considerably due to the sun. may i suggest some sort of suntan lotion to minimise this.
