work as a counsellor for a volunteer site and you get clues to the ins and outs of the system... i.e. i know people who say their councelor was a gambloholic or a druggie, but now making $50g /yr...go figure

You do not state your economic status. If you are not at or below the poverty level, many of the grants will not be available to you. Go to a state university in your home state. It is the cheapest way to go if you have to pay for yourself.
