Assuming you are going all over the country and not just Amsterdam I have the following info for ya,
train is the best ways to get around the country, within a city or small place try a bicycle or bus. ther are also cabs available, but they are usually expensive bike rentals are cheapest, busses you have oto bus a card, and depending on how far you are going (zones) they stamp them for you. there are no sleeping cabins in the trains, the country is not big enough that it would be overnight. from Amsterdam to Arnhem for example is about 1.5 hours. people speak generally english, especially the younger crowd, students etc will probably also be able to help you best on the trainstations, but ofcourse the staff there can assist you aswell. there are stoptrains and intercity trains, use a stop train if you need to go to a specific place that is not major, otherwise use a intercity, it skips certain stations inbetween, where a stoptrain would stop(duh lol)
ok tourist attractions,
go to any "VVV "place, thats tourist information. (in the place you're visiting.
some of my own recomendations:
*keukenhof in Lisse (but only in spring)
* Burgers Zoo in Arnhem, the exhibitions are amazing they have a jungle, with free roaming birds and lizards, a desert with birds and other freeroaming animals and an ocean and a great safariwalk (boardwalk) its awsome best zoo for your money.
also in Arnhem, (walking distance from the zoo) is the open air museam, windmills, farmhouses and artizan crafts are shown, you go back in time when Holland really did live that way. its a great experience for kids and adult, they show how a windmill works(you can go inside) and they also show how paper was made from old rags, and printed, and you can but the prints there. definatly a YES!
* Madurodam in Scheveningen, shows you the whole country in miniature, they have maps in english so you know what you are looking at.
*Sheveningen also has a beach and a boulervard with little cafe's and souvernirshops and a real pier also.
Nijmegen is close to Arnhem, its a pretty city, old roman ruins and great old city shopping streets and museums
*Amsterdam seems to be the main attraction for toursist, but the ones above are sure worth it. if you go to amsterdam, check out maddam tussauds its awsome! also check out the Rijksmuseum for the art (Rembrant, Van Gogh)
*Efteling the oldest funpark in the country with fairytales and one of a kind rides, a few rollercoasters and a lot of fun for both kids and adults.
Any of the places I mentioned can be looked up online, for openingtimes and ticketprices and pictures. almost all siteswill be available in english aswell
for traininfo check www.NS.nl
check mapquest europe for distances between the places you want to go.

What r the tourists attractions? Amsterdam and the Canals are tourist attractions. Nice towns are Delft, Volendam The Mills of Kinderdijk. Try http://www.holland.com/uk/
For partying stick to Amsterdam. For cannabis also, but if you ignore it no problem. Nothing is obliged.
The Beach of the island Schiermonnikoog is the best. But near Den Haag (Scheveningen) or near Amsterdam (Zandvoort, Bloemendaal) are also okay. Very crowded though.
The Public transport is good. The Dutch Railways are quite effective. Site: http://www.ns.nl gives timetables and prices ('prijzen"). Amsterdam (capital and must see) to The Hague (Den Haag) capital) takes 45 minutes and costs 9,50 euro (single) or 17,50 (vice versa on one day). Amsterdam to Rotterdam takes 1 hour. Since everything is nearby, it is no use having a sleeping cabin. I think in 3 hours you travel from the south to the north (a bit longer).
The weather is not always good. In the big cities that is no problem, at the beach it of course is.
There are many Internet cafes. So you should not have a problem being able to surf etc.
112 is the emergency number 4 police n ambulance.
Easy: almost everybody speaks English.

Are you going on a free & easy? The trains ride in Netherlands is expensive as they are in euro.If you are taking a train from Siphol Airport to Amsterdam it will take 25-30 mintues ride.Even if you will to take train from the north(Groneigan)to Sittda on the bottom south it takes the most 5 hours on a fast train. In Netherlands there are alot of inter city train which is call stop train. It's slow & stop almost in every station. There is another one which is call fast train which only stop in big city stations. You need a print out slip to tell you which stations to change train & the platfoam number if you are traveling a long distance.Lucky for us the Dutch do understand english unlike France,Germany & part of Belgium.
You just need to be more careful on your wallet & passport when you are in a train station. There is a rules in Netherlands if he or she try to steal your things, you caught them red handed so if you will to hit that person they have the right to sue you back.So you go to prison on hurting charge rather than that person who try to steal your items.Don't let those spoil your holiday just enjoy your holiday.Remember to see the red light area in Amsterdam behind the China town.If you want to take photos make sure none of the prosititue saw it or they will take your roll of flim away. There is no hawker center in Netherlands so most of your meals will be in restaurant. There are cheap & expensive ones,Wok,fast food restaurant & side food store will be much cheaper but please ask the price before you order.Japanese rest.will be expensive. They are very advance with internet access.Ask the hotel staff & they can give you the information.Try not to go in to their coffee shop,it's not a "coffee shop"but a shop that sells light drug.In the evening avoid dark lanes to be on the safe side. The best way to travel in Europe is to have some one in the group whom is there before if not you will miss lots of fun & good time there.Sorry couldn't tell you much even though I have work there for 4 years. It's not that easy to just tell you every things at one go,you need to go thruoght it to understand.Try going into the website Netherlands I'm sure there's lot of attractions for you to choose.

Amsterdam's appeal lies in its rich cultural heritage, diverse & creative culture, commercial dynamism and high quality of life. Ultimately, the city's strongest asset is its people: the people who live here, the people who work here, the people who study here, and the people who visit here.
