well yes, but only the tissue, of course i would not want any baby to be born this way, that would have been not only selfish, but quite horrible. if people say they would, then one must ask them "would you mind if YOU were born as somebodys spare part source?"
Cloning tissues and stem cell cultures is the good thing, cloning human persons is nightmare to me - cutting up little babies?. also, remebber that the biological age of the clone is the same as of the donor, so if you clone yourself at the age of 50, the clone is little viable and nobody in his right senses would want that. but if you want some tissue to heal your heart after heart attack, to replace the insulin producing cells in pancreas, etc etc, , it is ok that the biological age of the tissue would be 50 years too - you dont need the transplant to outlive you, do you?
To ethics: Although there are so many parentless children, many many "fertility treatment" runs are being done daily and the surplus eggs and also living human embryos are just discarded or just stored for ever and nobody has ever cared much. and only now when people would like to use them for some benefit, like for people who are seriously sick, somebody starts screaming about ethics and sacrity of human life - so where is the ethics and sacrity of human life in fertilization clinics, where living human embryos are just unused material to be discarded?
Have you seen the mice running about with a human ear on their backs - that is exactly what i would eventually want, cause i have only one ear - it is matrix plastics overgrown by human cells. the surgeons are not able to reconstruct the shape of human ear to make it resemble the other one satisfactorily, besides the skin grafts are needed in such amount, that it is not worth it - it is mere cosmetic defect, so what. of course the trick with the mice is just pilot test, but the moment i saw it i said to myself: wait, in 20 years it may be routine and you will eventually have both ears like everybody else - and this all is nothing compared to people who are genuinely sick and cloning could help them alot
have a nice day!

At first, I thought,"Easy Answer," then I started thinking about it some more. It is not as easy as I thought. If the clone is to be just another exact duplicate of myself, my answer would be, no. But, if it was going to be a new healthy me, i would say yes, and just do away with the old me. The reason being, I have been battling with health problems ever since I was a small child, never remembering when I was healthy, and pain free.

I would definitely do that, since the fact that it will be the greatest scientific breakthrough. Prolonged life? What more can you ask for?
