While we all eagerly await every finite detail of what was said to inspire the reaction, I think Materazzi should be made to explain himself and if found culpable, serve punishment for malicious and premeditated provacation of Zidane to serve his unorthodox strategy of disorganizing the french team to enable his side win the game!!
No one should be expected to take on insults to mother/sister and absorb with the tension and pressure of the game at that point in time.
Nothing matters any more than the preservation of the sanctity and integrity of our families - many would give up ALL to defend it -at least we now know what Zidane values the most - his family over football - this is appropriate. Agreably, it is an unfotunate incident as kids had to see that. Materazi should be penalised for causing it.
