You mean as opposed to the "real" world portrayed in our commercials, advertising, tv shows and movies? Let's be real. Our culture and economy is based on hiding in make- believe, regardless of age. The cult of chldhood is a billion dollar agency by which we are able to market (prostitute) children. Youth sells. People are always after the closet pedophiles, but if you ask me, we're a nation of them. We just choose to display our fetish for 13 year old breastless models openly, and be called "cutting edge" instead of perverted.
Sorry for the cynicism. Mommy told me the truth about Santa too early.....

Your question show some interesting concern
First very seldom do you find a parent that has been able to liberate itself from the world mentality, as a consequence all parents teach their children ( which is not conducive to their development ) to do this in one way, and to do that in another way. You cannot fault them for that, because the great majority of parents want the best for their children, what they do not realize, is one way or another, they are passing along, everything that they have accepted as true. Unfurtunately, this is not the children reality, but their parents reality which then they make their own out of love... There is more, but this is enough.

well you are asking the impossible!
and the only wqay you could create a world for them is put them in a drug induces coma. Which is illegal and not smart!
kids need to learn about the world in there own way or ask you. You just have to learn how to let go sometimes

If your kidz ask a direct question. You tell tham as much of the truth as you think they should know for thier age. And you try to make sure you explain it so they can understand it. For example. My Kidz know, food doesn't come from grocery stores. It comes from animals and plants. And, they enjoy cows and pigs and rattlesnake and fish. To them, animals are yummy.

If you are hiding the realities of life from them... if you are not allowing them to make mistakes...you could be creating a fantasy world for them.
If you are giving them guidance in such a way that they make their own decisions but with knowledge... you may be helping them learn to protect themselves

Parenting is about trying your best and hoping it all works out. You can never be certain of the outcome, only the effort you give it.
