Most, if not all the answers here are correct - the comp is just trying to cool itself down. Its important to have enough fans to cool your PC. If you're using a high-end GPU - it tends to do the same too.
One quick test is to run programs that stress test your PC like the 3d Mark 06. When it starts the CPU test - almost always you will hear the loud noise of the fans trying to cool down the system. You can also download a program called Riva Tuner to check at exactly what temp the fans boosts itself up.
But overall - not to worry - it only shows that your PC is normal.

This is probably due the your CPU heating up. Make sure that your CPU has enough air-flow inside and that its not located in air-tight location, usually between walls or having too many files or papers near the fan outlet. Also open the CPU casing for a while and run your pc, see if it makes any difference. If its still making that sound, I would recommend you re-do the heat-sink coating between the fan and the CPU.

Most of the answers here are correct. What also can cause the fan to come on is because of an increased load on the CPU. If your Virus Scan or backup for example is running in the background automatically while you are doing other intensive tasks, you may hear the fan kick in.

This is a normal behavior for a PC. The fan helps in cooling the system down to prevent overheating. If your system overheats it will go into auto shutdown which is a cutoff switch to prevent system damage.Just make sure that there is sufficient space around your PC as well and make sure that the vents are not blocked.

When your computer runs for a while the temperature goes up and it will make the fans spin faster to compensate.

You probably have one of those fans controlled by temperature. The higher the temperature, the faster it spins. You can consider this normal.
Start to worry when you don't hear anything as this may overheat your processor.

Most likely it is cooling it off when it heats up. Should not be a problem.

because the longer you have your computer on, the hotter it is...so the fan has to compensate the heat...so it spins faster.
