You do have to be licensed to do business in any county...and if you get caught... the penalties are worse than the license fee... the only thing with a sole prop is that you do not have to file for a ficticious business name statement if you use part or your entire name somewhere in your business name. For example; Arlene Smith has a business called Arlene's Hat... no statement needed to be filed.
