You probably have plantar fasciitis. There are other problems that can mimic this so you should be check by your physician.

Most of the time, no surgery is necessary. Occasionally you may need a cortisone injection in the area.

However, you could start stretching exercises and wear a shoe insert which would help this condition. Also, never walk around barefoot as it can make the condition worse. Check the link below for exercises which can help with that condition.

This has happened to me many times. Usually after standing or working on feet all day can do this. My problem is heel spurs, which could be yours also. You'd have to get diagosed by a podiatrist first to make sure.
Wearing the right size shoes which are comfortable and don't put alot of pressure on your heels while working/standing for long periods of time is a must. Also if you wear high-heels this will only exacaserbate the problem. You could also buy heel inserts (ones with jel inside) which does a world of good if your heels give you problems.
Good luck and don't forget to see your podiatrist for exact diagosis.

I had that problem too. My doctor told me it was heel spurs. Go to a podiatrist to get an accurate diagnosis, because if they're really bad they surgically shave off the spur. Mine aren't that bad though.

Wear a shoe that has a very good heel in it, or get some gel heel cups (in the foot care section of the pharmacy). Soak your feet in Johnson's Foot Soap (powder packet). That eases the swelling a little.

a spur may be the problem but then again it may not. It could be a circulatory problem. Are your ankles and calves swollen? Advise you see a podiatrist ASAP.
