Every year, I travel to California and I always stop by In and Out Burger. Instead of a long list of food items like McDonalds, In N' Out offers a simple menu that is quickly prepared. Why? Because In N' Out believes in "fresh" fast food, they make your meal on the spot rather than "premake." Its not wonder why so many people enjoy this fast food place.

For low carb diets they'll wrap your burger in a lettuce leaf instead of a bun. Also, they only promote managers from within. Interesting fact: the combinations of burger, fries, and a drink costs exactly what each individual menu item costs; no savings like a McDonald's value meal.

It is by far and away the most awesome hamburger joint in the world. Too explain how good they are let me tell you a local legend.

A rather elderly man and his dog ate lunch at In and Out every single day. The man would have a double double (double cheeseburger) every day for lunch. His dog would wait under the table for him to finish so they could continue their walk together. Well, one day the elderly man dropped his double double on the floor. The Dog not missing a beat ate it up in a few quick gulps. The elderly man continued his walk becuase he had finished enough to go without being hungery. The next day the man and his dog were about to go walking when the elderly man noticed the dog did not eat a single bite of his dog food. Regardless the elderly man continued along with walking his dog, again stopping at in and out for lunch. Again he orders a double double. He eats the entire hamburger and they continue on. Once they arrive home the dog curled up and laid down still not eating a bite of his dog food. The next day the man and his faithful companion go on there usual walk but again the dog did not eat anything. When they stopped at in and out the man got himself a double double. His dog whimpered as the order came up. The elderly man felt bad so he ordered his dog a flying dutchman (secret menu spoiler). That is just 2 meat patties and cheese for those who do not know. No bread. He gave it to his beloved hound and the dog gobbled it up. To this day the mutt will only eat from In and Out.

To urban legends,
Silence

Fresh ingredients, grilled right at the time of order. Fresh potatoes are cut, for your fries. Great milk shakes, and you can REQUEST more patties on your burger by asking for a double or triple or quadruple. Your onions can be raw or grilled (animal-style). Lastly, they frequently give out bumper stickers, and most people have been known to "alter" the wording to read "IN-N-OUT URGE". Try it when you come for a visit!

On my way home, I once went through an In and Out drive through, drove 30 miles, and went through another drive through for seconds before I got home! They are great! Fast food but not greasy. The menu is short and sweet, prices are totally affordable. Great hamburgers: The bun is toasted and served warm, the tomatoes and lettuce is cold, the hamburger patty is hot and they actually use high-quality meat. Grilled onions are best. French fries are made from fresh potatoes, not frozen. Come visit the U.S. and try one :) Check out what messages they put on their cups, too.

Well, it's a REAL burger for starters, not just a Mickey D's wanna be.

The Double Double is their specialty. Lots of meat, cheese, lettuce, fresh onions, ketchup, toasted bun... the works.

It's not so great if you're on a diet though, but then again you wouldn't have asked that question if you were. ;)

They are the best!
If you ever get to SoCal, you have to eat there. They have expanded out of Socal a little, but not far (San Fran, Phoenix, Vegas).
It is fast food, but it is awesome. Great burgers, great fries...It is probably a good thing they don't have them where I live, I would probably eat there too much!

in & out,
it's what a burger's
all about!"

One of the best made to order hamburgers you've ever tasted and they make fresh cut french fries yummy and when you go to the drive-thru they ask if your going to eat it in the car if you say yes they put it in a box for easy access in the car.

They are NOT the best in the world, the hamburgers are OK, but small. And the fries are nasty even thought they are peeled & cooked fresh right then & there...
