Well I think that the people who they have allowed us to choose are ideal looking b/c everyone wants to think of themselves as pretty, cute, hot, etc. What better way to mask yourself as one of those great adjectives than in the virtual world of Answers?!
If you want to go the psychographic route... don't you think humans are more likely to believe an answer if it comes from a person who's appealing vs. an ugly, fat, pimply man/woman? Humans can be cruel...

cause deep down we all want to b pretty! including myself! let me live in a dream world were im beautiful & happy. Not in my world were im ugly & unhappy!
