never I do press ups exercise the following day I get lower back pain - does any one know why and what causes ?

You are not using the proper form. Try using a weight belt for better support.

It could be because of the way your back is positioned while executing the presses.
Develop an awareness of your spine by taking two broom sticks- the height of your trunk. Place them on the ground an inch apart from each other. Then lie down on them...and try to feel your spine- feet one after the other flat on the floor then hug your knees feet one after another off the floor...just rock yourself very slowly to the left and to the right. You can do this without sticks afterwards....feel all of your spine touching the floor.
One way to relieve pain is imagining you are a cat- go on all four...then touch ground with your chin (arms left and right of ears - stretched out to the front- on the ground)..stay in that position for a while...then go back on all four and arch your back up and down like a cat does...don't forget to breathe...inhale through the nose- exhale through the mouth.

I believe that lower back pain usually is caused by weak stomach muscles.

Try adding core exercises and crunches to your workout.
