I think black widow spiders are pretty much everywhere. They say that there is one for every home or property. I wouldn't worry about it though. Black widows generally stay away from high traffic areas. So you can have one in your home and never see it. They like to stay in dark corners of an unfinished basement or possibly an attic. They will usually hide when someone comes into their presence, much like a roach would. They also like to live outside in sheds and wood piles. You may surprise it, that is about the only way they are ever encountered. So don't worry, if a widow does live there, it doesn't want to see you anymore than you want to see it.

from what I have learned thru animal planet...generally no...because of the harsh cold weather....but it doesn't mean you won't find one there. I am sure there are cases where one might have moved from
Arizona...to NY...and Black Widows...usually likes to be in dark places...and woody stuff....there are possiblitlites that a black widow could be in one of your furniture...or things you have stored in garage and during the move, makes it to NY...and depending on its situation weather it would be cold or warm and where its home is placed...inside or outside would give this spider his/her luck to live....unless it notices the change stress. But I know that your chances of finding one in NY is very nil. Hopefully I hve it right with this one. If you are asking because you are afraid of them...I wouldn't worry about it .

Yep!
"Currently, there are three recognized species of black widow found in North America: The southern black widow (L. mactans), the northern black widow (L. variolus), and the western black widow (L. hesperus). As the name indicates, the southern widow is primarily found (and is indigenous to) the southeastern United States, ranging from Florida to New York, and west to Texas and Oklahoma."
