No such thing as a free domain name anywhere ever. However I've seen them very cheap like $5 or less before at places like GoDaddy. For a subdomain you might have to contact someone you know already that has a domain and see if they can add you for free.

I wish that there was such a thing a Free Domains. Unfortunately it takes money to start a website.

Believe it or not, you can get one, with a website for free from MICROSOFT!
Goto http://ideas.live.com and click on "Microsoft Office Live Beta". There you can get a free domain name (whatever you want), and free hosting from microsoft, add free!!
