I'm 37 and am getting my second BA. I'm doing an Applied Math degree this time. I know a lot of people my age who are retraining into other careers. I was an elementary teacher for seven years and am now going to change direction in a serious way.

Don't beat yourself down with negative thoughts, and don't let other's make you feel bad for doing something good for yourself!!!!!!

You're never too old. In five years, you'll still be 35 no matter what you tried to accomplish during that time. Wouldn't you rather be 35 with your degree and a great job in EE()? My biggest regret in life is that I ALWAYS wanted to be a teacher, I was laid off at 40 as a VP for a huge telecommunications company with a package that included a years severence pay. Perfect time for me to go to school right? Well, no I felt too old, I would be uncomfortable etc so I'm back in the same grind and perfectly miserable... So do as I say not s I do!!!

Of course not. I admire what you are doing. I also want to get a degree and be able to work in different field with my new degree. Once my friend told me: It is never too late to pursuit your dream / goal. If you try now, couple years later you will / might earn your degree. But if you don't do it now, couple years later, you will still be in the same spot. Cheers, all the best

Heck no! You are not old at all. For various reasons, quite a few people find themselves back in college or training for new careers in their thirties.

Good luck!

You are never too old to continue your education. By keeping the brain active you help fend off Alzheimers too.
