I have had an IUD for about 4 or 5 months. I had sex about a month after I had it put in with no problems. I just had sex again and now I have bad cramps and lower back pain the day after. What could this be?

Contact your OB/GYN office and ask one of the nurses. They might know.

Could be several things. I was a OB/GYN nurse for several years. The problem with IUD's is you can easly get pelvic infections. Has your Dr. checked placement since he/she placed the IUD. You can always call your Dr's nurse and tell her your problem. She might solve your problem on the phone.

Yeah that's one of the possible side effects and a pretty common one. It can also make menstrual cramping worse.

But at least you wont be doing the birth pain thing anytime soon.

You're safe...try having sex more than once a month...just watch the STD thing.
