realize that if people come to this country illegaly its because they want to have a better life for their family, their children, themselves and that they dont come here just because they want to, do you think you will like going to a place where you dont know anybody, dont speak the same, where there are racist people who will treat you or look at you in a bad way, where you are going to be far from the people you love, come on if the come here its because they are starving because the earn 150 dollars a month, because they dont have any future and their children wont have it either if they keep like that, and dont say its their problem because if you say that it means you are a unsconscious person who just think for yourself and your benefits

Well, people come to America for all sorts of reasons. What I want Americans to realize is that each of our own history in America starts out with an immigrant - and not usually someone who received an invitation. Some people come here young and idealistic to make their fortune here. Some are trying to raise a family with every advantage they can. Some of them are fleeing for their lives. If we are closing our borders, we might as well take down lady liberty.
Peace!

I have no problem with someone coming here to get a better life for their family. What I do have a problem with is people breaking the law. It's not Xenophobia... it's an intollerance with people who break the law to get what they want.
Say you have a new job and your car breaks down. You need a car or your family will lose their house and not have food to eat. Does that make it right to steal a car and then also demand that the person from whom you stole it pay for the gas as well? Nope, I don't think so.
There are so many illegals coming here that people who have waited for 5 years or more to get here legally are being turned away. Tell me how that is right for THOSE people.
Remember, if they are earning $150 a month in their own country, their cost of living is much lower than ours as well. They don't have what we have, but that is no reason to just let everyone stream into this country illegally.
Come here legally and you'll be welcomed with open arms by the majority of the population. Come here illegally and we'll ask you to leave because you've broken the law and that's no way to start in a new place. Period.
Yes, our country is made up of people who all came from somewhere else. But the overwhelming majority of our ancestors came here LEGALLY. My own family came here through Ellis Island. They completed paperwork, sat and waited for days to be allowed to come through legally... and they did.
Legal or Illegal... that is the differentiation we're talking about. Not foreigners or aliens or whatever you want to call it to paint us in a bad light. Come here legally, stay. Come here illegally, go.

I am white and born in America. I am a citizen. I have spent most of my life working in restaraunts where all of the kitchen help is Mexican. I have found that the hardest working, nicest, most caring about family is the Mexicans. They come here, risking a lot, missing dearly their families, sending all their money back to their families and get treated like hell. If I was a Mexican, this is the first place I would go. The way they treat their families is way better than most white men do. They sacrifice so their families dont starve. I have nothing but respect for immigrants. What is really stupid is this country was built on immigrants and now so manypeople are so haughty and high and mighty and only look tojudje others = maybe they dont know their own ancestry. Bunch of hypocrites

~*~ Pamela.. In my opinion.. most Americans have not seen or experienced the poverty of our countries (Yours - El Salvador and Mine - Mexico).. All they know is what they have been told.. Many Americans take for granted the things that they have here.. I get tired of all of you making statements of something you know nothing about... Until you travel to the countries who have high poverty rates and actually see the people and how they live.. don't even make an opinion.. Unless you have seen how our people live and see the suffering.. you have no idea how lucky you are to be in a country with so many opportunities and a country that is well organized and treats everyone equal.. In mexico there are plenty of opportunities for the wealthy.. On the other hand there are many poor people who need clothing, food and shelter... Many times the Mexican Government promises help and rarely do the people ever get it.. There are few jobs that pay enough to support our families.. In the agricultural aspect.. If there is no rain.. the crops die.. if the crops die we don't have anything to sell... and the money that was invested in the crops is lost... I'm going to just get to the point.. I'm not gonna waste my time trying to explain it all to you people.. If you understand or are trying to understand great and if not.. your loss... Point is.. Many, i'm not going to say all, but many Americans take for granted everything that they have.. until they lose it most will NEVER understand what it really is to suffer and want a better life for their families..... It is impossible to make you understand by answering these questions.. You need to experience and see these poor countries for yourself and then make your statements.. I can just about guarantee that more than 2/3's of you would change your tune.. You would be grateful for everything that you have.. and you would probably want those people from the poor countries to have the same opportunities as you do here in the US... ~*~

And you point is that we should open up the borders let everybody in and kill the fatted calf so to speak. And then what will you eat tomorrow? And when we are no longer attractive to them I suppose they will move on and we will be left behind to clean up the mess. It sounds an awful lot like the ant and the grasshopper only we are the ants here not them. Our luxuries have come at a price. They don't want to pay that price. Instead they want to come here and make a small fortune and then return home to live as kings. Or stay but not follow the rules of this society. This is not racism. This is economics. This is government. This is Society. You are either part of the group or you are not. Citizenship has its privileges and its responsibilities. Anyone who is will to come in and follow the rules should be able to. The rest should go elsewhere. We are a nation of laws. We live by those laws. We survive by those laws. And without those laws we will surely perrish.

Then why don't we let all the poor people in the world come over. Why do we bother with deporting anyone and why have the INS and all those departments? How about if terrorists who are bent on destroying our country sneak in? Oh why sneak in, they can just walk in, right?
I understand your emotions but there is a reason for stopping illegal immigration. You should understand the economic burden to the country in terms of resources. What about the legal immigrants who are waiting to come to this country following all the rules and procedures? Do you think it is fair to them? Some have been waiting for 5 years to come in. The illegal immigrants are breaking the laws of our nation. Why have laws at all then? Let our country go into anarchy and chaos. You may like it then.

The fact remains with illegal immigrants (im from australia so its probably different.. we have people coming over in boats) iwe have refugees that are fleeing war torn countries, coming here illegally on boats. The problem with this is, the people who have been waiting to get refugee status and move here, they now have to wait longer becasue of the illegal immigrants, and generally the people that come on the boats are better off! Its unfair for the people who take the right action of how to do things! I dont know if its the same in USA, but this is why we have a problem ewith it here..

Oh my. This is the longest run on sentence I think I've ever seen!
When you enter a country illegally, you are breaking the law, period. These millions of law breakers are draining the systems of the USA and causing wreck and ruin to our schools, roads and economy.
My parents waited 10 years to legally immigrate into the USA, TEN YEARS! My Dad was a WWII refugee who escaped the Holocaust and fled to South America. I am proud that Mom & Dad did the right thing and didn't raise me to think that it was OK to break the law.
I am not a racist. I am Latina as I was born in South America. My husband is a Native American.

Yes I can understand why illegal immigrants want to come to this country. But coming here illegally benefits no one. It not only robs American born citizens or immigrants who came here legally of many benefits and jobs. Dont hand me the "Americans dont want to do these jobs" that the illegals do, yes we do want them. But because employers have found a way to get by on cheap labor they hire the illegals and pay such a low wage and no benefits and they wont hire American citizens because they would have to pay a higher wage.. No one benefits from people coming here illegally except for the employers and their greed. Come here legally and I have no problems. Im not racist or a bigot. I treat all people with respect, but I dont like having my benefits and wages stolen from me.

they might be terrorists? we just want to be safe. it's not really smart to just let someone walk into your country when you dont know what their intentions are or even who they are. would you like it if someone just walked into your house and just lived there? you dont know what they are there for and you dont know what they are doing, you dont even know who they are. would you be okay with that? how would you feel then? he could be a someone planning to do something to your house or maybe hes just there to take yoour money and not pay a penny in taxes. while your every check is chopped by uncle sam. would you be okay with that? have you seen the mexican immigration laws in mexico? they are way more harsh then the usa laws. i think i saw it posted on here in yahoo answers a while back. but anyways, we just want to be safe and make it fair to everyone who has the right to be in this country. and NO we are not racist, if someone wants to work here there are way to do it legally. why risk your life crossing the borders illegally?
