please don't start anything rigorous now. and nothing gets the baby out easier except genetics. rule of thumb when exercising while pregnant, if you can't have a conversation without panting, you are doing too much! walking (not running) is always good. i said it once on here and i'll say it again...9 months up...9 months down. after the baby is born, stick him in a pouch and walk around the neighborhood. the weight (which is only about what you are supposed to carry after a baby anyway) of the baby is your guide.

by the way...once you hit 8 months you won't care about excersing. you will be too big and bulky to want to move in the first place. this is your body telling you to SIT STILL!!! RELAX. let nature take it's course.

If you haven't been exercising before now, this is NOT the time to start. Your body is already working hard with providing nourishment to your baby and your heart is working twice as hard as it did before you were pregnant.

If you want to get some activity, just do some light walking for about 30 minutes a day or so. This will help you feel better and give you some energy, but won't be too strenuous.

I can understand wanting to be in shape, but you are pregnant! Don't worry about that right now, just enjoy your pregnancy and then after the baby comes, that's when you can start exercising and working on getting in shape.

But it's not healthy to start an exercise program while your pregnant if you aren't used to it. You can walk a little bit every day, but I wouldn't do anything more than that. And you definitely don't want to LOSE weight right now. Your baby needs that extra weight for growth and development. You'll have plenty of time to get the weight off AFTER the baby comes.

Just think about what's best for your baby and don't worry about your weight right now.
Good luck

First off, congrats! About exercising, you shouldn't now start doing anything other than LIGHT exercising at this point. Walking, stretching.... anything other than that, ask your doctor. And pushups and crunches will be a no. If you were exercising before you got pregnant, and then all during your pregnancy it would be different, you can't simply start getting all pumped up so far along in your pregnancy because that could cause early labor. Exercise does help with the labor. Not simply for the baby to come out easier, but because you will have more strength and energy.

Just have yourself prepared for the baby at home, once baby comes you may be out of energy for awhile. When you are feeling up to it THEN you can start exercising more.

You can't do crunches while pregnant. Walking at this point is the only thing you should be doing without first talking to your doctor. You have plenty of time after the baby is born to exercise. There are exercises you can actually do WITH your baby to help bond.

Walking is good, but sit ups or any stomach exercise is a NO NO. You have a baby in your stomach and you can hurt it. I knew a girl who was pregnant and did sit ups and lost her baby. I can understand you are concerned about weight but you need to gain weight for that baby, wait till after the baby is born then worry about the weight. Also wait till after you see your dr on 6 week check up after the baby to get the go ahead to do exercise.

the best thing is to go for swimming. get some 20-30 minutes 3 -4 times per week, and it will be enough for you. You don't need too much effort now. Better work on kegel and relaxation exercises.

Walking is very beneficial since you are carrying the extra weight of the baby. Also, do your cagal exercises to keep your vaginal muscles in shape for pushing.
