My sister and her friend did a farewell dance at our dance recital (they had just graduated from high school and had to leave the school to go to college) and they used the song let go by frou frou it has a great up-beat contemporary sound, its great for lyrical.

There are obviously millions to choose from.

Personally I'd suggest something with out lyrics so we don't rely on the emotional content of the song but rather receive it from the dance.

The 'trend' in contemporary right now is to start the dance ...and then 20 seconds into it start the music, lol.

Merde!
