I know nothing about WoW or online game playing, and would like some enlightenment from those who do.

1) Is there a cost involved (other than the software)? How much?
2) Isn't it near impossible to enjoy on dial-up? Or is it ok?
3) What is an "average" amount of playing time in a day for someone?
4) Anything else you would like to tell me about it.

Thanks!!!

I have an adult son with health problems that only works part time, and plays WoW the rest of the time. Where he lives (not with me) he only has dial up. I was thinking of trying to help him a bit as far as costs and internet service, thus I wanted the info. Y'all are great!!

After purchasing the game software (and upgrades).. it will cost you between $15 and $25 per month for most online multi-player games.

After you get bored with WoW, you will want to upgrade to EverQuest 2... hmmm... and .. you WILL need DSL at minimum.. with about 1Gb memory plus a good graphics card with 512Mb memory minimum.. otherwise you will lag (term for everything moving slow) unless you have the settings for "Extreme Performance" which means you see basic graphics instead of blades of grass.. and wrinkles on faces.. and ripples in water.. etc..

dial-up.. you will not enjoy any online multi-player games with that unless they are totally turn based and not real-time... you might want to try a free game first.. just to see how it is.. you can download a trial version of EverQuest to test it.. but you will be totally disappointed with dial-up.

"average".. starting out? hmmm.. 2 hours a day
after a year?... hmm.... 4 hours a day?
.. after two years?... hmmm... 6 hours a day?
.. after 3 years?... ok.. what day is it?.. when did I sleep last?.. have I eaten?.. how old is this pizza?

1) game cost like $50 and the monthly fee is like $30 (private servers atm i dont see any english ones)
2)dial up? I dont play the game, but I would go w/ DSL or cable (have a 512 RAM and a good video card)
3)average= alot no game of MMORPG is ever less than 2 hours
4)If you get bored, GO PLay LINEAGE 2 (the benefits are, there are plenty of private servers but a good RAM and a good video card are needed, w/ good internet)
Suggestion: online games should have good internet or the game becomes extremely laggy, and a good RAM so your comp goes fast, and a good video card for your screen to go at a good speed (highly highly recommend)

1. theres a monthly membership fee. Dont know how much, i think like fifty bucks or less.
2. Very near impossible, I wouldnt recommend it
3. About 12 hours, no kidding.
4. It wastes your life. It sucks you in and you will never stop. If you get too into it you will lose touch with reality, think and strategize about it all day. Do yourself a favor and get an xbox 360, and play a bball game if you need to chill out or something.

WOW cost 15 dollars a month and it kinda sucks on dial up. You should have a tleast 1gb of RAM (random acces memory) and if u dont it will just make u lag more. I play a lot and so do my friends. World of warcraft is the "cocaine" of video games. Once u start its hard to stop.
