White slaves were common in ancient times, check up your history, any conquered and captured people were slaves. (Seen the movie Gladiator?)

As far as the coloration is concerned, the English language is the 'white man's' language, it's just that others today happen to speak it a lot better than most white people. And white was considered as pure and clean and good, so this term stuck to the race that evolved the lingo.

Instead of giving racist comments and answers I would like to explain as follows
White is the most famous background color.
Without white there wont be any prominence for other color.
Most preferred color of an automobile is white..
Some countries people say white wash instead of saying painting.
Every color is prepared by adding some white color .
Most hospital rooms are painted white.
Scientist ,Doctors,Nurses wear white apparel.
To make it short , let me say that white is considered to be a symbol of seriousness, coolness, peace ,transparency, cleanness , therefore it can not be called as a color.

Some Minorities have been telling some whites that for a very long time. Some whites would prefer it that way because if they were told that they were colored they would take it as they were minorities and not the majority anymore because of the color of their skin which is becoming that way regardless of race. Whites go to tanning booth trying to get a darker tan which causes skin cancer if not careful. Good question

Because whites were the majority in the old days. They didn't need to differentiate by colors. There WERE no other colors!

Then they brought slaves over and used the term "colored" as a derogatory description for blacks. Then used it negatively on every other non white race.

Don't forget when we are sad, we are blue and when we are cowardly, we are yellow!

White people are not considered colored people because white as a color is the absence of color. If we got to be called pink instead of white, the term colored might have never begun.

Peace!

PS - In light, white is all colors and black is the absence. In paint, white is the absence of color and black is all colors.

Actually, no one is really ever one of these colors. Black people aren't actually black. White people aren't actually white. Asian people aren't actually yellow. When you're born, you're not pink. When you're hot/angry, your not actually red. When you're dead, you're definately not grey. When your sick, you're most definately not green. But, the only realistic one up there is when you are cold/scared, you are pale.

I really don't think the color of a person's skin is an indiation of the person that they are....Why do you need to classify?

I'm blonde, green-eyed and I have a better 'tan' than many ''black' people.......people only classify themselves by the friends they surround themselves with...........and no offense to all you 'black people' .........DON'T underestimate a person's worth by the color of their skin- look at who the are as people and stop judging a group- judge the person.-YOU are asking me, a caucasion, why I don't like 'black people' I don't dislike black people but I don't HAVE to like you because you''re black- I'd rather judge you as a potential friend on the basis of your character, NOT your skin color (THAT would be pretty shallow of me-and pretty shallow of YOU towards me)

Yes, white people are born pink but when we go grow up our cheeks are just pink. Besides white is the absence of color.
